Abergele, coast par., market town, and watering-place, N. Denbighshire, 34¼ miles W. of Chester by rail -- par., 9439 ac. (11 water), pop. 3172; town, pop. 1916; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank, 1 newspaper. Market-day, Saturday. On 19th Aug. 1868, A. was the scene of an appalling accident to the Irish limited mail, 33 persons being killed. Castell-Cawr, on a high rock in the vicinity, is one of the most perfect Roman camps in Wales.
