Bungay, town with ry. sta., E. Suffolk, on river Waveney, 6 miles W. of Beccles and 113 miles NE. of London; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks. Market-day, Thursday. B. was nearly destroyed by fire in 1688, and is now a neat and well-built town. It has an extensive printing-office and stereotype foundry; also trade in corn, flour, lime, &c. The river is navigable for barges.
