Guisbrough, market town, par., and township with ry. sta., North-Riding Yorkshire, in Cleveland dist., 9 miles SE. of Middlesbrough -- par., 13,166 ac., pop. 7188; town and township, 7014 ac., pop. 6616; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks. Market-day, Tuesday; contains the splendid ruins of Guisbrough Priory (1119). The working of Cleveland iron-ore employs most of the inhabitants.
