Hassendean, ry. sta., 4 miles NE. of Hawick, Roxburghshire; in vicinity is Hassendean Burn, seat; the ancient barony and par. of Hassendean (now chiefly in Minto par.), had a Norman church, a monastic cell, and a peel-tower, all now extinct.
