Hedon, mun. bor. and par. with ry. sta., East-Riding Yorkshire, 5¼ miles E. of Hull, 321 ac., pop. 966; P.O., T.O. In the days of Edward I. Hedon ranked above Hull as an important commercial centre, but the harbour being destroyed by tidal deposits, the trade of the town gradually declined. Hedon was a parl. bor. until 1832; its chief trade is in corn.
