Ilkeston, market town and par. with ry. sta., S. Derbyshire, 8 miles NE. of Derby and 133 miles from London, 2526 ac., pop. 14,122; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks, 2 newspapers. Market-day, Saturday; has mfrs. of hosiery and lace, stone bottles, drain pipes, earthenware, and bricks; coal and ironstone are found in the neighbourhood. At Ilkeston is a mineralspring, the properties of which attract numbers of invalids to the town.
