Kingsbridge.-- market town, small port, and par. (ry. sta. Kingsbridge Road, 10 miles N.), Devon, at head of Salcombe Haven, 12 miles SW. of Totnes and 34 SW. of Exeter, 150 ac., pop. 1527; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks, 4 newspapers. Market-day, Saturday. Kingsbridge is the centre of business for a large extent of country called the South Hams, and has a considerable agricultural trade as well as a fair trade coastwise. Some of the inhabitants are engaged in the fishing industry. The church is nearly five centuries old. In the Town Hall is. an interesting museum. John Walcott (Peter Pindar, 1738-1819) was a native.
