Meavy, par. and vil., Devon, on river Meavy, 6m. SE. of Tavistock, 3289 ac., pop. 284; P.O.; is a resort of anglers; remains exist of an old mansion, which was the residence of Sir Francis Drake; the river Meavy (or Mew) rises in Dartmoor, and flows 13 m. SE. to the Plym.
