Hadley.-- vil., Monken Hadley par., Middlesex, 1 mile NE. of Barnet; P.O.; in vicinity was fought in 1471 the battle of Barnet., between the Yorkists under Edward IV. and the Lancastrians under Earl Warwick (the King Maker), in which the earl was defeated and slain. An obelisk marks the place where he fell. The seat of Hadley Priory is here.
