Osmington, par. and vil., Dorset, in S. of co.- par., 2307 ac. (125 water), pop. 380; vil., 4 miles NE. of Weymouth; P.O.; is situated in a densely wooded valley among lofty hills; dates from ancient times, and has large stone quarries. A figure of George III. on horseback is cut on the slope of an adjoining chalk hill, and serves as a landmark to ships.
