Polperro, small fishing town, Lansallos and Talland pars., Cornwall, 6 miles E. of Fowey; P.O. Polperro is an ancient place, and occupies a picturesque site, being built on the rocky shore and ledges of a sea inlet. It is a coastguard station, possesses a good harbour, and is actively employed in the pilchard fishing and the coasting trade. There is an endowed school. On an eminence near the town stands a ruined chapel. The rock formations are of great interest to the geologist.
