Princes Risborough, market town and par. with ry. sta., Bucks, 7½ miles S. of Aylesbury, 4697 ac., pop. 2418; P.O., T.O. Market-day, Thursday. The town is situated among the Chiltern Hills, is an ancient place, and took the distinctive title of "Princes" from a moated palace of the Black Prince which at one time stood here. The church (rebuilt in the time of Henry VII.) contains effigies of crusaders. There is an endowed school. The trade of the town is mainly agricultural. In addition to the weekly market a cattle fair is held in May.
