Royton.-- town and township with ry. sta., Prestwich par., SE. Lancashire - township (within the parl. limits of Oldham), 1372 ac., pop. 10,582; town (partly also in Middleton par.), 2112 ac., pop. 11,433; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank; the sta. is 3 miles N. of Oldham; Royton has large cotton factories.
