Seaton, town with ry. sta. (Seaton and Beer), Seaton and Beer par., Devon, at mouth of river Axe, 7½ miles SW. of Axminster, pop. 1221; P.O., T.O., 2 Banks. Seaton has risen into notice as a watering-place since the opening of the branch line of rail from Axminster. It has a pleasant esplanade along the old bar of the Axe, and good sands for promenading and bathing purposes. Pleasant excursions may be conveniently made from Seaton to Lyme Regis, Branscombe, Sidmouth, &c.
