Stony Stratford, market town, in co. and 8 miles NE. of Buckingham, on river Ouse, 124 ac., pop. 1943; P.O., T.O., 3 Banks, 1 newspaper. Market-days, Tuesday and Friday. The town is situated on Watling Street, and consists of the two pars, of Stony Stratford East Side, 69 ac., pop. 727; and Stony Stratford West Side, 58 ac., pop. 1216. It is an ancient place, and has an endowed grammar school, a weekly corn market, a monthly cattle market, and fairs. A number of the inhabitants are employed in lacemaking.
